Hi Melinda,

Meet my wife, Mam-Yassin Sarr.  The two of you are playing a significant role in transforming the world by empowering girls and women around the world.  I think it is timely and appropriate that the two of you meet. [She is truly phenomenal, and I think you will agree. 🙂 ]

Mam-Yassin’s dream, since the age of eight, has been to transform her country of The Gambia, by empowering girls and women through education, small business, and virtues training.  Her entire undergraduate and graduate academic career, she has fashioned to help her accomplish her goal.  In 2008, we created Starfish International.  Since then, we have educated over 700 hundred middle and highschool girls and transformed their lives, their families, and their communities.  I believe a key factor in our success, and a critical factor of the entire Girls’ Empowerment Movement, is Virtue Training.  We always state, “We don’t want to create a country of empowered girls and women, we want to create a country of empowered girls and women who are dedicated to selflessly serving their families, their communities, their country, and the world!”  We explain that the goal of education at Starfish is “Service to Humanity.”  It is infused into every aspect of our activities.

My wife is simply magical!  Our students, simply outstanding!  I invite you to come to The Gambia to meet our students and see for yourself the progress of a dream that I believe is destined to transform an entire country, and maybe even the world!
